Dogs Learning Self-Control — Three Shih Tzus Stay Calm When a Chicken Walks In

One thing I’m proud of with our dogs is how calm they can stay when something exciting walks right into the room — in this case, a live chicken. These three Shih Tzus are between two and six years old, and all of them came to us with a history of being very reactive. Teaching them to settle, hold their place, and just watch instead of lunging took a lot of patience, but it paid off.

Watch the video to see them put that self-control to the test. Even dogs with a reactive past can learn to keep their cool with steady practice.

Got a dog story of your own? I'd love to hear it.
