Here’s my Chinese elm bonsai, a really rewarding tree to grow. It’s developed a nicely textured, characterful trunk over the years, topped with a full canopy of small green leaves. It’s planted in an oval pot with Chinese characters glazed onto the side. Chinese elms are tough and forgiving, which makes them a great choice for bonsai — and this one has come along beautifully.
