Filligree Japanese Maple

This is a filigree, or laceleaf, Japanese maple — one of my favorites for its incredibly fine, feathery foliage. Each leaf is so deeply cut that it looks almost like green lace, with the edges just starting to take on warm orange and gold tones for fall. It’s only a small potted specimen for now, but these delicate maples grow into real showstoppers as they mature.
