A Rescue Bonsai from Walmart for Karen — First Repot and Early Training

Walmart Shopping…

I felt compelled to rescue it…

So I got Karen a Bonsai:

Love the generic Bonsai tag, they can’t even bother to put the name of the tree on it.

Took it out of the pot, (completely dry) and it promptly broke apart into 2 separate trees.:

Stupid Glued Rocks:

Repotted in screened turface:

Also potted the other part of the tree, the one that had no leaves on it:

My plan is to trim off those exposed roots, but want to give it a bit of time to recover first.

I watered it with a transplant solution with IBa, it is my standard recovery juice for sick plants.

The roots seemed to all be heading down and not out. I pulled apart the roots that appeared to be circling and set them in the pot out to the side of the plant.

I do like the look of it, it looks amazingly good for the abuse it has had to endure, I hope it makes it.

  1. Hello,
Your Bonsai is a Adenium obesum, also know as a Desert Rose. It will get very nice flowers.
It looks like you got it just in time, those glued rocks are a death sentence. Good luck with it.
