River Flood Warning for Neenah, WI — Signs of Another Wet Summer?
I wonder if this is a sign of another wet summer to come? I get the alerts in my e-mail from the Weather Channel. They have sent me 26 Alerts this page week, which consist of:
“THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOX RIVER NEAR BERLIN. * FROM SUNDAY MORNING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. * AT 3:00 PM SATURDAY THE STAGE WAS 12.9 FEET. * FLOOD STAGE IS 13.0 FEET. * MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST. * FORECAST…RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY TOMORROW MORNING AND CONTINUE TO RISE TO NEAR 13.3 FEET BY FRIDAY EARLY AFTERNOON. ADDITIONAL RISES ARE POSSIBLE THEREAFTER. * IMPACT…AT 13.3 FEET…THERE IS MINOR FLOODING IN BERLIN AND DOWNSTREAM IN SCOTTS PARK IN OMRO.”
These numbers have barely changed in the past week. I believe we had an above average snow fall this winter.
I know last summer had to be really hard for farmers with the massive volume of rain we had. We had a few garden plants that didn’t do very well, but the vast majority of our landscape plants did very well and were hapy to take all the water they could get. For many of our plants, the more water they get the better. The vast majority of our plants are well established now, so the main thing I have to worry about watering is container plants and whatever we decide to plant in the raised garden.
