Dog of The Day for 3/27/2012 — Gir 1 year
“Gir is a 1-year-old Shorkie (Shih Tzu/Yorkshire Terrier mix). He is very good with other dogs and cats. He plays outside with our Chihuahua Chloe. They go for car rides together and long walks. He sleeps in my lap with Chloe curled up next to him. He loves meeting new friends.”
Gir the Shorkie is living an extraordinarily social life for a one-year-old, and he is thriving in it. His best friend is a Chihuahua named Chloe — they play outside together, ride in the car together, go on long walks together, and at the end of the day they curl up together, Chloe tucked right next to Gir in the owner’s lap. That is the ideal multi-dog setup: two different small breeds who have worked out a perfect rhythm together and made the most of every day. A Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix brings together the sweetness and confidence of the Shih Tzu with the feisty alertness of the Yorkie, and Gir sounds like he has the best of both.
