A Golden Fireworks Burst Over the Harbor

This is my favorite fireworks shot of that summer, taken on the Fourth of July over the harbor here in Neenah. I shot it from Riverside Park, within about fifty feet of where I took my sunrise photo of these same sailboats.

A big golden burst came raining down over the water, with the moored boats of the Neenah-Nodaway Yacht Club sitting in silhouette and their reflections on the still water below. You are looking out toward historic Doty Island, the calm harbor catching all of that gold light.

Everything came together on this one. The gold light, the boats, and the dead-calm water. Some nights the fireworks and the harbor just line up.
