Coffee Roasting at Montana Coffee Traders
On our trip out to Montana we got to tour Montana Coffee Traders and see their roasting operation up close. As a coffee lover, this was a real treat — getting to see exactly how the green beans become the roasted coffee we all enjoy.
They walked us through the whole setup: the big roaster with its ductwork and cyclone, the cooling tray where the fresh-roasted beans get stirred and cooled, and the control panel covered in gauges and timers that lets the roaster dial everything in just right. Fascinating stuff, and the whole place smelled amazing.
