Evening at High Cliff — May 18, 2016
An evening up at High Cliff State Park on May 18th, 2016. You drive up the road to the upper part of the park, where the trails run right along the top of the bluffs, high above Lake Winnebago. The whole place was in full spring mode, with fresh green leaves just coming out and glowing against a clear blue sky in that golden light you only get in the last hour before sunset.

I had the dogs with me, Vasco and Bogey, and they were in their element exploring the mossy limestone rocks while we walked the upper trails. Karen found a spot to sit and take in the view out over the lake.

High Cliff sits up on the Niagara Escarpment, the limestone ridge that rises well above Lake Winnebago. It is one of my favorite spots, and it is right in our backyard. More from up here: the Red Bird statue at sunset and spring trilliums in bloom.
