Spring Tulips Around Neenah — May 19, 2016
Spring color around Neenah on May 19th. The tulips were great this year — especially these flame-streaked varieties with their bold red markings across bright yellow petals. They almost look hand-painted.
There’s a whole range of them blooming in the beds, from the densely layered double tulips to the more open single blooms showing off their red-and-yellow interiors. After a long Wisconsin winter, a burst of color like this is exactly what you want to see.

? When can you plant where you live?
I built a free little tool for exactly this question — The Garden Almanac. Type in your ZIP code and it gives you your USDA hardiness zone, your average last and first frost dates, and a planting calendar tuned to your spot — when to start seeds, set out transplants, and sow. It runs right in your browser, no account needed. Find your frost dates & planting calendar →
