Sailboats moored in the Neenah harbor at sunrise with a red sun, seen from Riverside Park in Neenah, Wisconsin

Neenah Sailboats at Sunrise — Around 2014

A morning shot from Riverside Park here in Neenah, Wisconsin, from around 2014, looking out over the harbor. The sailboats were at their moorings, the sun was coming up red through the summer haze, and the water was dead calm.

A lot of those boats belong to members of the Neenah-Nodaway Yacht Club, the sailors you will see out racing on Lake Winnebago all summer long. Early on a morning like this, though, they were all still tied up and quiet, the masts lined up against the sky, and the only ripple on the whole harbor was the long reflection of the sun.

This is the kind of thing you only catch if you are up early. I don’t get up that early often, but it is worth it when I do.
