Nostalgia

I have been building things on the internet since I was a teenager. A little publishing company, then a dial-up internet provider I started at seventeen, then a print shop on a stone corner in Menasha. Most of it faded the way small web ventures do. So I went into the Internet Archive and rebuilt them, piece by piece. This is where they live now.

Step inside: the interactive one

PowerNet Boot Camp

Run a 1998 ISP from the command line_

The most hands-on piece of the whole collection. Step into PowerNet’s back room and actually operate the gear: log into the hosting box, configure the edge router, and see how a 1990s internet provider was really wired together. No sign-up and nothing to install. It runs right in your browser.

Ashwood, Inc.

My old printing and design shop on the corner in Menasha, rebuilt from the 2003 site and a box of photographs.

Squirrel Publishing, Jamie’s first business

My very first business, years before PowerNet. Where the whole habit of building things started.

Still building

None of this is behind glass. I am still making things on the web every week. Have a look at the games and tools I am building now.
