If you have a dog, you know the summer ritual: you stand at the door on a hot afternoon, look at the sidewalk, and try to guess whether it’s too hot for their paws. Maybe you’ve heard the trick: press the back of your hand to the pavement, and if you can’t hold it there…
Akiva must have been around four years old when I took this video back in 2007. That little duck was his absolute favorite. He had a whole basket of toys to choose from, but he always came back to the duck. He would toss it up in the air, give it a good shake, and…
Two of our Shih Tzus, Akiva and Bogey, keeping us company on our 2014 road trip out to California. That’s Akiva relaxing on the floor and Bogey saying hello to the camera with his best photobomb. Traveling with the dogs is always an adventure — their harnesses and leashes seem to end up in a…
Akiva has been with me for a long time, and going through the photos from over the years always brings up a lot of good memories. He’s been there for everything — the apartment years, the early blog days, countless walks and car rides and naps on the couch. That photo of young me hugging…
As many of you know, we suddenly lost Akiva on April 4th 2016. We decided to have Akiva preserved by having him freeze dried. This is an extended process that takes a minimum of 4 to 6 months, once space in available. He has been out with the person who is preserving him since late April….
Going back through some older photos of Akiva and Vasco from their younger years. These two have been such a big part of my life, and it’s always fun to look back at pictures of them from way back. There’s one of them snuggled up together resting on an orange pallet jack out in the…
This is my Best Buddy Akiva. He turned 10 years old today. He had a very nice day. Akiva says: Read my Birthday story from Today and see the pictures below… Hi Everybody; I’m Akiva! This is me and Dad taken this evening for my Birthday: Check out this slick Bandanns that Mom made me…
Akiva and his new toy. We handed it to him expecting the usual chewing and tossing, and instead he did the most Akiva thing possible: he tucked it right under his chin and settled in. “Oh, Akiva, you got your new toy, and you’re using it as a chin rest!” It is one of those…
Akiva got a new toy and he could not be happier about it! Here he is on 10/5/2012 proudly hanging on to his new plush monkey, tongue out, sprawled on his favorite fun-print blanket. He’s always loved a good stuffed animal, and this monkey quickly became one of his favorites. That little face says it…
Fixing a Leak, how to… Found several small pin holes in the Hot Tub that we got for Akiva (bottom inflates and was leaking) After 2 failed attempts to patch it with a vinyl patch kit (which peeled right off — I can only assume that there was something about the type of PVC used…
Our cat Felix decided to climb right into the pet stroller with Akiva on 2/5/2012, and the two of them made quite the pair! Karen and I got a kick out of seeing them share the ride. Akiva didn’t seem to mind sharing his space one bit — here he is mid lick-of-the-nose while Felix…
It was about 35 out this afternoon, clear and not very windy. Here in Wisconsin it is quite unusual for us not to have a good amount of snow by this time of year. We decided to take advantage of the nice weather and lack of snow. Karen and I headed to High Cliff State…
