The short version: you don't need an account. Without one, your dog profiles stay in your browser and nothing about them is sent to us. An account is optional and exists for one reason — to sync your dogs across your devices. We don't run ads, sell data, or share it with anyone.
If you don't sign in
- Your dog profiles, ZIP, and settings are saved only in your browser's local storage, on your device. We never see them.
- To produce a forecast, your browser fetches weather and air-quality data directly from the National Weather Service and Open-Meteo, and looks up your ZIP's location via Zippopotam.us. Those requests include your ZIP or its coordinates so they can return the right forecast. We don't add any tracking to them.
- No login cookie, no account, nothing stored on our server.
If you create an account (optional)
An account lets your saved dogs follow you to another phone or computer. When you sign up, we store:
- Your email address — to sign you in and to send a password-reset link if you ask for one.
- Your password — stored only as a secure one-way hash (bcrypt). We never store or can see your actual password.
- A name you choose (optional) — just to greet you. It's never shown publicly.
- Your dog profiles and preferences — breed, size, coat, age, your last ZIP and surface choice — so they can sync.
- A short-lived session cookie while you're signed in, and your IP address briefly, only to rate-limit abuse of the sign-in and reset endpoints.
What we never do
- No advertising, no analytics inside the tool, no third-party trackers.
- We never sell, rent, or share your data. It is used only to run the sync feature you asked for.
- Your data is not sent to any outside service beyond the weather lookups described above.
Deleting your account
You can have your account and everything stored with it permanently deleted at any time — email jamiedolan@gmail.com from your account's address and it will be removed. Deletion also removes any password-reset tokens.
