🐾 The Dog-Years Translator

How old is your best friend really? We skip the lazy ×7 and use the real, size-adjusted aging curve — because a Chihuahua and a Great Dane do not age the same. Cute, shareable, instant.

Why not just ×7?

Because it was never true. Dogs rocket through childhood — about 15 human years in their first year and ~9 more in their second — then settle onto a slower slope that depends on size. Bigger dogs age faster, so each later year counts for more:

+4 / yrSmall
(under 20 lb)
+5 / yrMedium
(20–50 lb)
+6 / yrLarge
(50–90 lb)
+7 / yrGiant
(90 lb+)

These are friendly approximations based on breed-club and veterinary guidance — every dog is its own wonderful exception, and your vet always knows best.
