“Coco came on my first date with my husband. How could I not love a man who treated his dog so well? Coco loves getting his chin scratched — he makes a grunting sound and doesn’t want to stop. He goes to Home Depot in a shopping cart and stands up to let people see him, waiting for the crowd to gather. I love you, Coco!”
Coco may be single-handedly responsible for a happy marriage. He came on that very first date, and his owner made a very reasonable judgment: how this man treats his dog says everything about who he is. Good call, as it turned out. Coco himself has become something of a community institution — the Home Depot shopping cart routine is genuinely legendary. He rides in the cart, stands up tall, and waits for people to notice him.
