Know Your Rights. "War Protest – Oshkosh, WI 1971"
Knowing the law (and your rights) in your city is an important tool that helps you keep and your dog safe. All too often we tend to rely on what vets and public officials tells us the law is. This can lead to much misunderstanding, confusion and abuse. Can you answer these questions?
What vaccines your pet is required by law to have?
Where can and can’t your pet go in your city?
Can you walk your dog in the park?
Through a playground?
What happens if your dog bites someone?
Are there leash laws in your city?
Are licenses required?
What are the penalties for violations?
I encourage you to take a few minutes and find out the answers to these questions. The Municode.com web site has a free copy of the municipal code available for many US cities.
You can visit the web site now, and search for your city at this link:http://www.municode.com/library/library.aspx If your city does not have a copy of the code available on this web site, I encourage you to make a call to your local government and find out how you can get a printed copy of the code.

Some sunsets are worth stopping for, and this was one of them. I shot it on the evening of May 7th here in Neenah, with the whole western sky lit up orange and red over the water. I don’t get tired of living near the water. On a clear evening the sky, the lake, and…
Some traditions you don’t realize you’re going to miss until you’re standing in the middle of one for the last time. This was the final trick-or-treat Halloween event at the High Cliff State Park Campground, held on October 18th, 2025 — and the campers went all out to send it off in style. We got…
A beautiful sunset at High Cliff State Park, looking out over Lake Winnebago. The sky lit up in shades of pink and gold as the sun dropped toward the horizon. High Cliff is one of our favorite spots, and evenings like this are exactly why. There’s nothing quite like watching the sun set over the…
One of my favorite shots of the season — Akiva curled up in his bed by the glow of the Christmas tree on 12/8/2011. He always finds the comfiest spot in the house.
